Server Rack Installation and Network Closet Build-Outs

A rack is where the network, the servers and the power all meet, and a messy one turns every change into an outage risk. RHC plans, installs and dresses server racks and network cabinets, from a single wall-mount cabinet in a branch office to the main distribution frame of a multi-floor building.

The challenges

  • Closets that grew without a plan, with unlabeled cables nobody wants to touch.
  • Equipment that does not fit: rack depth, rail type and weight were never checked.
  • Power and cooling sized for a few devices, now feeding a full rack of switches and servers.
  • No grounding or bonding, which puts equipment and warranty claims at risk.
  • Changes that have to happen without taking the office offline.

How we do it

  1. 1Site survey: room dimensions, floor load, power, cooling, existing equipment and the cable paths that feed the closet.
  2. 2Rack design: rack or cabinet type, elevation drawing (what goes in which U), patch panel and cable manager layout.
  3. 3Installation: assembly, anchoring, grounding and bonding, PDUs and UPS placement, rails and shelves.
  4. 4Equipment mounting: servers, switches, firewalls and storage racked with front-to-back airflow in mind.
  5. 5Cable dressing: patch cords cut to length, routed through horizontal and vertical managers and secured with hook-and-loop ties.
  6. 6Labeling and documentation: every port, panel and cable labeled, with a rack elevation and port map handed over.
